The shift towards sustainable practices and digital solutions is becoming increasingly important in all sectors, and advanced manufacturing is no exception. Currently, more than three-quarters of companies in the EU face difficulties in finding the necessary skilled workforce since about 44% of adults undertake training on a regular basis, according to Eurostat figures[1].

With that in mind, we developed a paper that explores:

In recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has shown the potential to impact the work and growth of many sectors. The CECIMO Spring Meetings 2023, held in Antalya, took a deep dive into the future agenda of the Association and looked at the emerging technologies and mega trends in manufacturing industries. Despite political and economic system uncertainties, CECIMO announces a positive economic picture for European Machine Tool producers.

Joint Statement – access to data by public bodies: a double-edge tool to use with caution and restraint

In light of the trialogue meeting that took place on May 23, concerning Data Act on business-to-government (B2G) data sharing, CECIMO has signed a joint statement with 25 other industry associations expressing serious concerns and making general recommendations.

The leading technology summit in Northern Europe, MPD 2023 is preparing to present its new edition with the resounding theme "Sustainable and Resilient Growth" from 5 to 7 June in Tampere, Finland.

Coalition of Steel Users Calls for Termination of EU Steel Safeguard Measures

A cross-sectoral industry coalition of European steel users calls on the European Commission to terminate the EU steel safeguard measures as part of the ongoing review to be concluded by 30 June 2023.

Between and March and May 2023, CECIMO organized the sixth round of its European Additive Manufacturing Survey, which aims to assess key market trends in the Additive Manufacturing (AM) sector. It is a six-month survey that helps the industry record trend indications for key business areas, such as domestic business, AM exports, orders by type of material, client industry demand and investment trend. 3D printing companies express their six-month indications in the key business areas compared to the situation over the past six months.

EU PROJECTS UPDATES

EARASHI's Open Call 1 recently concluded on May 12th, attracting enthusiastic proposals from across Europe. The submissions showcased innovative solutions aligned with EARASHI's building blocks and addressed identified challenges. Over the next months, the proposals will undergo a thorough evaluation process, with results expected by the end of July. The EARASHI Consortium expresses its gratitude for the applications received and is already making preparations for the launch of the Second Open Call, furthering their commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration. SAM & AM Platform Skills Event, 27th April 2023 was organised at Materialise premises in Leuven. The Additive Manufacturing Event reflected upon the latest Additive Manufacturing skills developments and the possibility to interact with the network AM Expert across Europe.

CECIMO Brussels Forum (limited seats available)

The next CECIMO Brussels Forum formerly referred to as CECIMO Fall Meetings, will take place in Brussels on 6 – 7 December 2023. We proudly announce the first edition of the CECIMO Machine Tools Innovation Awards (MTI Awards), a competition that convenes and recognises the biggest innovations in the Machine Tool Sector. The Awards ceremony will take place during the Forum.

WEBINAR- Skills4Advanced Manufacturing: Unlocking the Industrial Green Transition

In light of the EU Green Week, this event focused on the technical green competencies and skill sets required for safer and greener Advanced Manufacturing. It aimed to raise awareness of the emerging green skills that will be required for the green transformation of industrial value chains and discuss ways to ensure a continuous flow of green skills into industries.

CECIMO Spring Meetings

CECIMO Spring Meetings 2023, hosted by MiB (Makina İmalatçıları Birliği), Turkish Machine Manufacturers took place in Antalya, Türkiye between 06-09 May 2023. The four days programme consisted of a variety of strategic meetings focusing on the future roadmap of the machine tool sector. In addition, an interesting social programme allowed participants to discover the hidden treasures of Antalya.

CECIMO Trade Mission to Silicon Valley

CECIMO, together with AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology organised a trade mission to Silicon Valley that included visits to top companies like Meta, Rapid Robotics, Lumafield, Autodesk etc. The delegation was impressed by these innovative solutions that are revolutionizing the manufacturing industry and transforming the way we work.

CECIMO at TCT360, Birmingham

During the TCT3Sixty in Birmingham, the Chairman of the CECIMO Additive Manufacturing Committee, Stewart Lane, gave an overview of the policy initiatives impacting the AM sector and the CECIMO expectations on the growth of AM solutions in the next years.

Our Director of Public Affairs gave a talk at the EFM, focusing on how the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive seems to be asking EU corporations to know every aspect of their value chain and solve complex dynamics embedded in the economic, industrial, cultural aspect of different countries. Policymakers need to focus on what is realistically achievable and consider that companies want to be a part of the solution to achieve more sustainable supply chains.
