We look forward to welcoming CECIMO participants to the United Kingdom from 15-17 October 2024 for an enriching and interesting series of meetings and company visits organised by the MTA (Manufacturing Technologies Association). Participation is open to executives from member companies of the national trade associations affiliated with CECIMO. Please find below important travel information and a detailed programme of the visit.

Accomodation

Participants will be staying at Hare & Hounds Hotel, set within acres of beautiful gardens and woodland in the heart of Westonbirt, near Tetbury. 

How to get there

Arrival: Participants should plan to arrive at London Heathrow Airport (LHR). From there, take the train to London Paddington Station and then on to Bristol Parkway Station (approximately 1 hour 45 minutes). Finally, take a taxi to the Hare & Hounds Hotel in Westonbirt (approximately 30 minutes).

Alternative Airports:

  • Bristol International Airport: Approximately 50 minutes by taxi to the hotel.
  • Birmingham International Airport: Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes by train to Bristol Parkway, followed by a 30-minute taxi ride to the hotel.

Programme Overview

Anticipated arrival of participants to Hare & Hounds Hotel, Westonbirt.

The Manufacturing Technology and Trade Tour will kick off in the evening with a dinner at the award-winning restaurant, The Hare and Hounds.

The UK company visits will commence on Wednesday morning with a tour of Renishaw. A working lunch, sponsored by Renishaw, will be held at their headquarters in the afternoon.

Following this, we will travel to Worcester to visit Yamazaki Mazak. In the evening, a delightful dinner is planned in a private dining room of beautiful country Whatley Manor.

Yamazaki Mazak

Yamazaki Mazak is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of machine tools, laser cutting machines, CNC software and automation solutions. Based in Worcester, its European Headquarters is home to the European Manufacturing Plant and Technology Centre, which is open to customers all year round.
 

The final day will conclude in Coventry with a visit to the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), followed by a working lunch. Subsequently, there is a planned visit to McLaren (to be confirmed).

After the visit, transport to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) will be arranged.

The Manufacturing Technology Centre

Part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult network, The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) was established in 2010 as an independent Research & Technology Organisation (RTO) with the objective of bridging the gap between academia and industry – often referred to as ‘the valley of death’. It represents one of the largest public sector investments in UK manufacturing and, after four years of planning and a 16 month build, the facility opened at Ansty Park in Coventry at the end of 2011.

mandatory registration

Registration is mandatory for this event. After registration, participants will receive an invoice from the CECIMO. Attendance is not confirmed until payment has been received. Cancelled visits will not be reimbursed.

Participation fee: The cost of the trip, which includes hotel costs, all lunches, two gourmet dinners and coach transport during the visits and drop-off at LHR , is 2.200 pp. Please note that your travel to and from the UK is not included in the fee, nor is your transfer to the hotel.
